The Biotechnology Research Institute is one of the research institutes of the National Research Council of Canada. BRI is located in Montréal. The laboratories, offices and bioprocess facilities cover over 18,000 m². NRC's initial investment in BRI exceeded $60 million. The Institute manages an annual (in 1997) operating budget of approximately $23 million; half of the 400 people working at the facility are guest workers from industry and universities.
